History

The club was originally founded in 1961, and was known as "BOCM", but later changed to "Independents".
In 1980 the club was renamed as "Gardiners", following sponsorship with "Gardiner Haskins".
However, when this sponsorship ended, the club returned to being called "Independents".
For many years the club trained at The Red Maids School, Westbury -on-Trym, Bristol
From 2016/2017 season the club now train at SGS College, Filton
For the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season the club was supported with sponsorship from 'The Knee Specialists' www.kneespecialists.co.uk
